Davenport, Iowa – The Ganzo’s Cinco de Mayo 5K has been a beloved event in our community for the past decade, bringing together runners, volunteers, sponsors, and community members to celebrate our heritage and support local charities. After much consideration, the Ganzo’s Cinco de Mayo 5K committee has decided to take a break in 2023.

Over the years, the Ganzo’s Cinco de Mayo 5K has become an important part of our community. As the largest Cinco de Mayo 5K event in Iowa, it has attracted runners from all over the Quad Cities and beyond, encouraging people of all ages to get out and exercise, promoting better physical and mental health. The event has become a symbol of our community’s commitment to promoting health, wellness, and community involvement.

As we take a break in 2023, we want to reflect on the impact we have had on our community. We are proud to have raised over $50,000 for local charities, with Autism Spectrum Disorder being our main focus. The funds we have raised have helped provide resources and support for families affected by Autism, enabling them to access critical services and care. It has been an honor to give back to our community.

We are incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to share our heritage with the Quad City community. The Ganzo’s Cinco de Mayo 5K has been a testament to our community’s diversity and strength, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate our shared history and culture. The event has been a showcase of our rich Mexican culture, with traditional food, music, and performances, making it an enjoyable experience for all participants.

We also want to express our gratitude to all the volunteers, sponsors, participants, and committee members who have supported us throughout the years. The Ganzo’s Cinco de Mayo 5K has been a community effort, with countless individuals dedicating their time and resources to make it a success. We could not have achieved such success without your unwavering dedication and support.

As we take a break to reflect on our community impact, we are excited to consider new ways to serve and support our community in the future. We remain committed to promoting community involvement and celebrating our rich Mexican heritage. We invite everyone to join us in our upcoming Cinco de Mayo Fiesta, where we will continue to showcase our heritage and celebrate with our community.

We understand that this may come as a disappointment to many of our supporters who have looked forward to our event each year. However, we believe that taking a year off will allow us to assess our impact and consider new ways to serve our community. We hope that you will continue to support us in our efforts and stay tuned for future updates.

We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of the Ganzo’s Cinco de Mayo 5K over the years. We are grateful for the opportunity to support Autism Spectrum Disorder awareness and make a difference in the lives of those affected by this condition. From everyone at Ganzo’s, thank you for 10 amazing years.
